The Segway Experience
Home Page

The segway human transporter was announced in December of 2001.   Loving gadgets of all kinds George immediately tried to purchase one.  After a year and a half they are finally becoming available and George got one on vacation in July of 2003.  Most people still say that this is the first one they have seen live and in person.  Its claim or promise is that it will change the method of transportation in urban areas and in many specific places like a campground.  The segway weighs 83 pounds and stores easily in many vehicles.  We took it to a convention in Johnny's PT Cruiser.  It will transport a person 10 to 12 miles on a fully charged battery.  It can stand still and go as fast as 12 MPH.  In an attempt to recover some of his $5000 purchase price George has decided to offer you the opportunity to experience the Segway.
On Saturdays and Sundays you can sign up for a Segway experience.  You must watch a video that describes the operation and explains how it works and how to ride it.  You then get to ride it for a 5 minute test ride at a cost of only $5.  It is possible that as time goes on the Segway price will drop drastically and the rental will be a lot less expensive.  If that occurs you can expect Peace River Campground to have a fleet of rentals like our current Golf cars.

This is Helen who is George's Assistant.  It is not polite to reveal a Ladies age but I will tell you on her  anniversary she and Ed were married 65 years

Helen had no problems riding the Segway

This is Linda taking a test ride at the Florida RV Trade Association convention.  Linda is the President of the National Association of RV parks and Campgrounds. The picture is blurry because Johnny had two drinks.  We have not figured out how that makes the picture bad but it is our only explanation

This young man was the first person to take the segway experience on Labor Day weekend.  As you can see from his smile he had a wonderful ride.

This is Al, a retired school teacher, who is saving his pennies to buy his own Segway
